Within the project Extraction and Purification of Waste Water in the Area Domžale - Kamnik: the construction of a new extraction and purification system of waste water is being carried out in the municipalities of Kamnik, Domžale, Komenda, Mengeš, Cerklje na Gorenjskem and Trzin. The construction of appropriate infrastructure for the extraction and purification of urban waste water is being carried out in areas which are identified in the National Development Program as areas which must have a sewer that is in accordance with the EU directives of the extraction and purification of waste water. After the completion of the project at least 95% of all users in agglomerations, which are found in the included areas, will be connected to a single sewer system, which ends in the treatment plant Domžale - Kamnik. The treatment plant is - within this project - being upgraded so that its operations are in compliance with the regulations. Roughly speaking, the project is divided into:
- Sewerage works within a construction of a new sewage system in the municipalities of Kamnik, Mengeš and Komenda is being carried out, and
- An upgrade of the Treatment Plant Domžale - Kamnik, which includes all municipalities: Kamnik, Domžale, Komenda, Mengeš, Trzin and Cerklje na Gorenjskem.
The project is planned to connect additional 6,586 PE to the discharge (of which 6,064 PE households and 522 PE from the activities) and an additional 12,637 PE connection to the treatment (of which 10,615 PE from households and 2022 PE of activities).
The project includes the construction of 47,166 meters of sewers, 21 pumping stations and and upgrade of the Central Treatment Plant Domžale - Kamnik.
The basic intention of the project Extraction and Purification of Waste Water in the Area Domžale - Kamnik:
- Construction of adequate infrastructure for the extraction and purification of urban waste water,
- Meet statutory obligations regarding the implementation of municipal infrastructure,
- Additional connection of inhabitants to the public sewerage system and the treatment plant,
- Reduction of harmful emissions into water,
- Improvement of the living conditions of the population,
- Improving the health status of residents in the area concerned.
